Betty Okere and Liz Mwendwa, the founders of HerWell Africa

About

Started by two women who were tired of the silence.

HerWell Africa, Nairobi, founded 2026.

The story

Every woman knows the conversation that did not happen. The mother who never explained what was coming. The doctor who said it was stress. The friend who was going through the same thing and never said. HerWell Africa began with two women deciding to have that conversation out loud, with the experts in the room, and to keep having it.

We cover the whole woman, not one symptom: seven dimensions of her life, her body, her hormones, her mind, her relationships, her wealth, her nourishment and her purpose. Each conversation is led by a named expert in that field. Each event is recorded on this site so that the women who come, and the sponsors who may one day fund the work, can see exactly what happened.

HerWell is a business today and intends to be a foundation tomorrow, taking these rooms to the regions of Kenya where they do not exist.

The story

Liz Mwendwa, founder and Femtor

Liz founded HerWell Africa and leads it as its Femtor: a female mentor, and the woman who holds the room together. With a background in counselling, sociology and management, she convenes the right experts, asks the questions women are sometimes afraid to ask, and makes sure every woman leaves with something she can act on.

She is the first point of contact for HerWell, for seats, questions, and anyone who wants to bring a HerWell conversation to their workplace, women’s group, church or circle of friends. Read Liz’s full profile.

What we hold ourselves to

Honesty

No padded numbers, no miracle products, no medical advice from people who are not qualified to give it.

Expertise

Every conversation is led by a named specialist with a public record you can check.

Dignity

No question is embarrassing. The room is women only and what is said in it stays there.

Evidence

Every event published: who came, what was asked, what happened next.
